Fratelli d’Italia grows and the League collapses. This is the most striking fact when looking at the final results of the European elections regarding Civitavecchia. Meloni’s party in fact obtained 31.6% of the votes, followed in a virtual ranking by the Pd with 18.25%, by the M5S with 14.15%, by Forza Italia with 8.34% and by Stati United States of Europe with 7.54%. Even further down are the League with 7.20%, AVS with 6.30%, Pace Terra Dignità with 2.64%, Action with 1.76%, Sovereign Popular Democracy with 0.90%, Libertà with 0.84% and Alternativa Popolare with 0.47%. Voter turnout was very low, at an all-time low in the city for non-referendum consultations. In fact, 65.42% of those entitled to vote voted. In 2019, 71.22% of voters voted.
Comparing the data with the previous election for the renewal of the European Parliament, we observe the great growth of the Brothers of Italy, which went from 7.18% to 31.6% and the great collapse of the League, which went from 33.89%. at 7.20%. In practice there was a total transfusion of votes from the “Salvinians” to the “Melonians”. The Democratic Party also fell (from 20.22% to 18.25) and above all the Five Star Movement fell, going from 20.22% to 14.15%. Forza Italia also saw a slight decline, which in five years went from 10.07% to 8.34%.
Instead, comparing the data from Saturday’s and yesterday’s elections with the most recent general consultation, i.e. the 2022 elections, the differences are much less marked. There is always a growth of Fratelli d’Italia, going from 27.3% to 31.6%, but otherwise a certain stability is observed: the Democratic Party goes from 17.2% to 18.2%, La Lega from 7.8% to 7.2%, Forza Italia from 8.7% to 8.3%. The Five Star Movement’s decline was strong, from 19% to 14.15%.
