European elections 2024, the results in Italy and Europe

The leader of the European People’s Party, Manfred Weber, has already invited Socialists and Democrats and Liberals to recompose a majority together, as done in the last legislature, which led to the election of the President of the Commission Ursula von Der Leyen, so much so that it was renamed “Ursula majority”.

Austria

L’Austria has 20 seats. According to the exit polls, the Identity and Democracy group obtained 5 seats, the European People’s Party 5, Renew 2, the Greens 2 and the Socialists and Democrats 5. First party at 27% FPö, Freedom for Austria, an extreme party right.

Belgium

The nationalist Vlaams Belang party takes the majority with 13%. The 22 seats are distributed as follows: 4 each to socialists, popular and liberals, 3 to conservatives and sovereignists, 2 to greens and left.

Bulgaria

First party is thecentre-right alliance GERB-SDS with 26%. With 17 seats, Bulgaria assigns 6 to the European People’s Party, 5 to the liberals, 2 to the socialists and democrats and 4 to parties not yet registered with community groups.

Czechia

The populists of Ano 2011 win, with 26.14%. Of the 21 seats, 7 go to the Liberals, 5 to the People’s Party, 3 to the Conservatives, one each to the Greens, Left and Identity, while 3 go to parties not yet registered with community groups.

Cyprus

Cyprus has 6 seats. According to exit polls, the European People’s Party has 2 seats, the Socialists and Democrats 1, the left 1, while 2 seats went to parties not yet registered with community groups. The first party is Democratic Rally, a conservative formation.

Croatia

With 33% it is the Croatian Democratic Union, a centre-right party, the leading force at the polls. It takes 6 of the 12 seats in Croatia, which assigns another 4 to the Democrats, 1 to the Greens and one to parties not yet registered with community groups.

Denmark

First party, the center-left formation Socialistisk Folkeparti, with 18.4%. Denmark has 15 seats: 4 go to the Liberals, 3 to the Greens and the same number to the Democrats, 2 to the People’s Party, 1 to the Left, 1 to Identity and Democracy and one to parties not yet registered with community groups.

Estonia

The country assigns 7 seats, of which 2 each to the People’s Party, Liberals and Democrats, while one goes to Identità. The first party with 21% is the conservative formation Isamaa.

Finland

In Finland the conservative National Coalition party wins with 24.8%. The 15 seats: 4 for the People’s Party, 3 for the Left and Liberals, 2 for the Socialists and Greens, one for the Conservatives.

France

Marine Le Pen’s Rassemblement National, led by the new president Jordan Bardella, takes the 31.5% and therefore has its hands on 30 of the 81 seats that the country holds. For this reason, President Macron called early elections. Liberals and socialists take 13 seats each, left 9, popular 6, greens and conservatives 5 each.

Germany

Germany has 96 seats. According to exit polls, the CDU, the right-wing popular party, wins with 30.2% and secures 30 seats. Second at 15% is Afd, which takes 19 seats, the Greens 16, the Socialists and Democrats 14, the left 4, Renew 8, while 5 seats went to parties not yet registered with community groups.

Greece

Next Nea Dimokratia at 27.96%. With 21 seats, Greece sees its seats in the European Parliament distributed as follows according to the exit polls: the European People’s Party has 7 seats, the Socialists and Democrats 3, the left 4, the Conservatives and reformists 2, while 5 seats have gone to parties not yet registered with groups community.

Latvia

The centre-right New Unit ahead with 25%. Of the 9 seats, 2 each go to the People’s Party, Conservatives and parties not yet registered with community groups, while 1 each goes to the Greens, Socialists and Liberals.

Lithuania

Here too the Christian Democrats are ahead, therefore 3 of the 11 seats for the People’s Party. Then 2 each for liberals, socialists and greens and 1 for conservatives and parties not yet registered with community groups.

Luxembourg

Center-right ahead at 22.91% with the alliance between the People’s Party and Christian Democrats, with 2 out of the six total seats. The other four go to Greens, Socialists, Liberals and Democrats.

Malta

45% of the vote goes to Labour. The six seats are divided in half between socialists and popular.

Netherlands

The Netherlands represents 31 of the MEPs. There are two additional seats that the country obtained after the distribution of 15 additional seats during this electoral round. According to the exit polls, the Identity and Democracy group obtained 7 seats, the European People’s Party 6, the Conservatives 1, Renew 7, the Greens 4, the Socialists and Democrats 4, the Left 1 while 1 seat went to parties not yet enrolled in community groups. The first party is the centre-left Green-Socialist coalition led by Frans Timmermans, former commissioner for the Green Deal, who overtakes Geert Wilders’ Party for Freedom (PVV), which recently won the national elections.

Poland

Next the center-right with the Civic Coalition of 38.2%. The People’s Party took home 21 seats out of 53, behind the Pis conservatives at 19, the Socialists at 3, the Liberals at 2 and 8 going to parties not yet registered with community groups.

Portugal

The Socialist Party is first at 32.33%. The centre-right is hot on the heels. Both socialists and popular take 8 of the 21 seats, identity and liberals 2, left 1.

Romania

The center-left formations advance, giving the socialists 13 of the 33 seats. 11 for the Popular Party, 2 for the Liberals, 1 for the Conservatives, 6 for parties not yet registered with community groups.

Slovakia

At 27.8% the progressives, who took 7 seats. Of the 15 seats, 6 to the Liberals, 1 to the People’s Party, 1 to the others.

Slovenia

In Slovenia 6 of the 9 seats go to the People’s Party, 2 to the Liberals and 1 to the Greens.

Spain

Hungary

President Viktor Orbán’s Fidezs party stands at 43.76%. Of the 21 seats, 11 go to parties not affiliated with community groups, 8 to the People’s Party and 2 to the Socialists.
