Enters a new course European Parliament after the verdict of the polls on the occasion of European elections. In the north-eastern constituencyin which Bologna and Emilia Romagna are included together with Veneto, Friuli Venezia Giulia and Trentino Alto Adige, 15 candidates were elected out of the 76 that Italy will express in Brussels.

If in our constituency the victory goes to FdI, in the Municipality of Bologna (as well as in the entire Bologna metropolitan area) the Democratic Party remains firmly at the top of the preferences, doubling the Melonians with 41.1% of votes.

Turnout

The polls closed at 11pm yesterday – 9 June – the counting and counting of votes began to elect the Italians to the new European Parliament. At the same time, local elections were also held in 45 municipalities of the metropolitan city (Administrative: definitive turnout data).

At the end of the two days at the polls, in Emilia Romagna 59% of those entitled to vote voted (however, there are still a handful of seats to be counted), down compared to 2019 (67.28%). In the whole metropolitan city of Bologna 60.81% of voters voted (there are still a few seats missing): still down compared to 2019, whose turnout was 67.75%.

Worse than the regional – and also provincial – average is in Capital municipality, where only 57.31% (173,600 voters) of those entitled to vote showed up at the polls (while 5 years ago it was over 63%). However, better than the national figure which does not reach 50% voter turnout.
