WHO VOTES

All Italian citizens registered in the electoral lists of their municipality who have reached the age of 18 can vote.

Furthermore, citizens of another European Union country residing in Italy who have already submitted a specific application to the municipality of residence to vote exclusively for the members of the European Parliament belonging to Italy can exercise the right to vote in Italy.

HOW TO VOTE

Voters must go to vote in possession of a valid identity document and voter card.

In case of loss or running out of space for stamping on the card, it can also be requested on voting days at the electoral office of the municipality where you are registered on the electoral lists.

It is possible to vote for only one list, and separate voting is not permitted. The voter can draw a mark on the symbol of the chosen list, even without indicating candidates.

PREFERENCES

The voter can also express preference votes, up to a maximum of three. In the case of multiple preferences expressed, these must concern candidates of different sexes (for example, in the case of two preferences: woman-man or vice versa; in the case of three preferences: woman-woman-man or vice versa; woman-man-woman or vice versa).

If multiple preferences are expressed for candidates who are all of the same sex, the preferences following the first are cancelled. For candidates included in the linguistic minority lists, only one preference can be expressed. Preference must be expressed exclusively for candidates included in the voted list.

The preference vote is expressed by writing, with a copy pencil, in the appropriate lines drawn next to the mark of the voted list, the name and surname or only the surname of the preferred candidates, included in the list itself.

In case of:

• identity of surname between the candidates, the name and surname must always be written and, if necessary, the date and place of birth;

• candidate with two surnames, the voter can write only one when giving preference. The indication must contain both surnames when there is the possibility of confusion between the candidates.

The voter, after having voted, must take care to fold the ballot inside the voting booth and must return it, duly folded, to the polling station president.
