Bologna, 9 June 2024 – This electoral round that unites the European elections and the municipal which concern 225 new mayors from Emilia Romagna. The first detection ofturnoutwhen the polls closed at 11pm last night, saw the vote 18.35% of those entitled to vote: 3,499,924 voters (1,704,571 men and 1,795,353 women) for the European elections and over 2 million for the local elections. The national data it is just under 14.7%.

The turnout data is essential to give a first political reading of the voting trend. To the last ones European elections of May 2019went to vote 67.31% of Emilia Romagna people. This time, it will be interesting to see if the frontal and apical clash between the Brothers of Italy and the Democratic Party will help to raise participation or, instead, if it will only mobilize their respective electoral bases. Emilia-Romagna is in the North-East (north-eastern) constituency which also includes Veneto, Trentino-Alto Adige and Friuli-Venezia Giulia: 15 of the 76 euro deputies elected in Italy will be chosen here.
