Train movement is suspended at the station Turin Porta Nuova due to the presence of demonstrators pro Palestine near the line which prevent regular railway traffic. The intervention of the police forces is underway to allow the regular resumption of traffic. Trenitalia announces that High Speed, Intercity and Regional trains may experience delays.
The protest demonstration organized by collectives, antagonists and students ends in the worst (and perhaps most predictable) way possible, moreover on the first day of European elections and administrative (in Piedmont people also vote for regional).
The day began immediately amidst provocations and tensions. The flags ofEuropean Unionof the United States and of Israel they were burned inside the occupied Porta Nuova station complex. Outside, a group of hoodedwho emerged from the procession in the center of the city, armed with men fire extinguishers filled with red paint defaced the bank’s facade Intesa Sanpaolo in via San Francesco d’Assisi. Gods were then lit smoke bombs and torches while from the microphone the speaker said: “The problem of the agreements with the university depends on this bank. The university is public and we fight for this every day”.
The pro-Palestine march started just before 4pm in Turin, organized by the coordination Turin for Gaza: in the square, as mentioned, the collectives that join theStudent intifadathe faithful of mosques, various associations, social centers, grassroots unions and radical left parties, with the “Intifada everywhere” banner prominently displayed and Palestinian flags flying in the wind. The demonstration, whose slogan was All eyes on Rafah – from universities to the citystarted from via Sant’Ottavio (home of the Turin humanities faculties, Palazzo Nuovo, occupied, together with the other two universities, for over 20 days by pro-Palestine students) and forced the police to further guard the polling stations with mobile departments.
