Today, Saturday 8 June, at 8.30 pm, the stage of Teatro Due in Parma it will become the setting for a culturally refined and evocative event as part of the Farnese Festival.

The planned play is “Trinummus“, one of the most fascinating comedies of Plautuswhich will see a peculiar performance enriched by the compositions of Giovanni Battista Martinidating back to 1780. This performance will attract the attention of lovers of classical theater and those who appreciate the harmonious fusion between acting and music.

The Europa Galante orchestra will be directed by Fabio Biondi who will also play the role of violist. The cast of actors includes recognized talents such as Luca Cicolella, Laura Cleri and Davide Gagliardini.

Martini’s music, an integral part of the show, was originally conceived in collaboration with Paolo Maria Paciaudi, a historical figure of the Bourbon era. The plot of “Trinummus” unfolds through events whose main themes are debauchery and morality, well explored in the dilemmas and comic situations that emerge from the management of Charmides’ assets by her trusted friend Callicles. The work stands out not only for the liveliness of its text, but also for how it is created scenically, enriched by musical compositions that respect and enhance the rhythm of the ancient narrative. Before the show, at 7.00 pm, Biondi himself will enrich the spectators’ experience with an introduction in the Music Hall of the Pilotta Monumental Complex.

The opera “Trinummus” allows us to appreciate the effective combination between Plautus’ theater and 18th century music. This event will be an opportunity to rediscover and experience in a contemporary key the dynamics of comedy and social criticism that made Plautus a timeless author.
