Rho: Commemoration 100 years after the killing of Giacomo Matteotti

After the trip to Villamarzana and Fratta Polesine last Sunday, the municipal administration of Rho and the Anpi propose two moments to remember the socialist deputy Giacomo Matteotti on the occasion of the centenary of his assassination which occurred on 10 June 1924 at the hands of fascist hitmen.

Unveiling of a plaque in via Matteotti and readings at the Infopoint

On Monday at 6pm in via Matteotti 32, the plaque dedicated to Matteotti will be unveiled in the street that bears his name. At 6.30pm at the Tourist Infopoint in Piazza San Vittore «La boje» historical reading taken from a research by Luigi Zuolo, interpreted by Patrizia Grioni and Luigi Zuolo. The letters between Giacomo Matteotti and his wife Velia Titta and some biographical and historical references introduce the facts that prepared the advent of fascism and the assassination of Matteotti himself.

The students of Rebora welcomed by the president of Anpi of Rovigo

Last Sunday in Villamarzana the representatives of the municipal administration and 98 people, including the president of Anpi Rho Mario Anzani, Bruno Bevilacqua and twenty-one students of the 5th DSU of the «Clemente Rebora» high school of human sciences, accompanied by the principal Sara Olivari and by the teacher Claudia Bono, were welcomed by the local administration and the president of the Anpi of Rovigo, Antonella Toffanello, flanked by some relatives of the victims. The participants in the trip received an explanatory booklet focusing on the Matteotti crime and the Villamarzana massacre, edited by the president of Anpi Rho Mario Anzani.
