Polls open today, Saturday 8 June, from 3pm to 11pm, and Sunday 9 June, from 7am to 11pm for the European and Municipal elections.

There are 166,266 voters called to the polls for the administrative elections in 16 municipalities in the province of Foggia.

Manfredonia, San Severo, San Giovanni Rotondo and Torremaggiore are the municipalities with more than 15 thousand inhabitants voting where a possible run-off is expected.

In 12 other municipalities – Apricena, Biccari, Carlantino, Castelnuovo della Daunia, Celle di San Vito, Deliceto, Isole Tremiti, Poggio Imperiale, Stornarella, Troia, Volturara Appula and Volturino – unless there is an equal number of votes, it is decided in a single round .

The counting operations will begin, for the European elections, on the same day, Sunday 9 June, immediately after the closing of the voting operations and the ascertainment of the number of voters for each consultation.

The counting operations for the municipal elections are postponed to 2pm on Monday 10 June.

How to vote

In the European elections each voter can vote for only one list by making a mark on the marker or in the rectangle that contains it. If the voter draws a mark on more than one list mark, the vote is invalid.

Each voter can also express up to a maximum of preferences for candidates on the voted list, provided they are of a different gender.

For municipal elections, in centers with up to 15 thousand inhabitants, in which each mayoral candidate is linked to a single list of councilor candidates, the voter can draw a mark on the symbol of the list or on the name of the mayoral candidate or on both and the vote it is valid both for the mayor and for the list.

It can also express, for councilor candidates on the voted list, in municipalities with up to 5 thousand inhabitants, a single preference vote and, in municipalities with a population between 5 thousand and 15 thousand inhabitants, two preference votes, but for candidates of different sexes, under penalty of cancellation of the second preference.

In municipalities with a population exceeding 15 thousand inhabitants, in which each mayoral candidate is linked to one or more lists of councilor candidates, the voter can trace a vote mark on the mark of a list (and possibly also on the name of the mayoral candidate linked to the list itself) and the vote is thus valid both for the mayor and for the list.

You can mark the vote only on the name of a mayoral candidate and the vote is thus valid only for the mayor. He can also draw a vote mark on the name of a mayoral candidate and another vote mark on the mark of a list not connected to that mayoral candidate (so-called ‘disjoint vote’) and the vote is thus valid for both the mayoral candidate and for the list, although not connected to each other.

The voter can also cast two preference votes for councilor candidates on the voted list, but for candidates of a different sex, under penalty of cancellation of the second preference.
