Also Latina and San Felice Circeo among the beaches and seabeds rescued by FIPSAS members who collected, in their activities in 40 Italian locations, 350 quintals of waste, including plastic, iron and washing machines.
The success of “Pulifondali” and “Pulispiagge”, the initiative created by FIPSAS (Italian Federation of Sport Fishing, Underwater Activities and Finswimming), is certified by the over 350 quintals of waste captured on the seabed and beaches of 40 different Italian locations by members and volunteers involved on the occasion of “World Environment Day”. With the collaboration of the General Command of the Harbor Office Corps – Coast Guard, of the Rai, of the Ministry of the Environment and Energy Security and of Suzuki, ghost nets were set sail (Amalfi and Conca dei Marini – SA), washing machines, old sewing machines, sunken hulls, marine engines and plastic. The latter is the sad queen of “Pulifondali” and “Pulispiagge”, the trait d’union that linked north to south, including the islands.
“Every year – explained Ugo Claudio Matteoli, President of FIPSAS – we ask our members to “give us” a day for the environment. Compared to last season, this time the locations that wanted to be present doubled. A beautiful signal that gives us the strength to continue on a path necessary for generations to come”.
The locations that have joined “Pulifondali” and “Pulispiagge” 2024 are: Alassio (SV), Amalfi (SA), Ancona, Barcola (TS), Bergeggi (SV), Calatabiano (CT), Castiglione della Pescaia (GR), Catanzaro Lido, Civitavecchia (RM), Conca dei Marini (SA), Follonica (GR), Forio d’Ischia (NA), Genoa, Giulianova (TE), Isola di Capo Rizzuto (KR), La Spezia, Latin, Manfredonia (FG), Marina Palmense (FM), Massa Carrara, Messina, Metaponto Lido (MT), Ortona (CH), Ostia (RM), Pesaro, Piedimonte Etneo (CT), Porto Cesareo (LE), Porto Corallo (SU ), Portopalo di Capo Passero (SR), Pozzuoli (NA), Reggio Calabria, Rimini, Riva del Garda (TN), Salerno, San Felice Circeo (LT), San Vito Chietino (CH), Sant’Angelo di Serrara Fontana (NA), Syracuse, Venice and Verbania.
