The 253 electoral sections and nine special seats of the Municipality of Messina were duly constituted this morning with their respective presidents and scrutineers for the European elections today and tomorrow. The presidents of each section received all the material needed for voting and counting. Voting operations will begin at 3pm until 11pm and will continue tomorrow from 7am to 11pm. For the European elections, 183 thousand 586 voters are registered to vote, of which 86,684 men and 96,902 women, in addition to 104 voters from the list of EU citizens , of which 17 men and 87 women. Voter turnout will be measured today at 11pm and tomorrow, at 12pm, 7pm and 11pm, coinciding with the closing of the polls, which will be followed by counting. The electoral office of the Municipality of Messina provided for the substitution of 38 presidents and 308 scrutineers, while at the 2019 European elections it replaced one president, six instead by the Court of Appeal, and 188 scrutineers. In the 2014 European elections, a president and 138 scrutineers were replaced, while in the 2009 European elections there were 71 scrutineers.
And even in Palermo they are trying to solve the problem of replacing scrutineers and polling station presidents. Before 10am this morning, around half of the polling stations for the European elections had already been set up. Around sixty seat presidents had not shown up, but according to what we learned, fifty replacements had already been identified around 10am. The procedures for establishing the polling stations should therefore be completed regularly for the start of voting operations, scheduled for 3pm today, thus avoiding the inconveniences that occurred in the 2022 administrative elections.
