The vote for Europe

All citizens aged 18 and over and all citizens of one of the European Union countries residing in Italy can vote in the European elections. I am 76 European parliamentarians will be elected in Italy, 20 in the North-Western constituency which includes Lombardy, Piedmont, Valle d’Aosta and Liguria. There are 12 lists present on the ballot paper: you vote by crossing the symbol of the chosen list e up to three preferences can be expressed as long as at least one of a different gender. Voting for mayors

The administrative round is of interest instead 77 municipalities for a total of 321,386 inhabitants, just over a third of the province of Varese. In 10 of the 77 municipalities who will vote is present only one candidate for mayorwhich means that it will be enough to reach a quorum of 50% plus one of those entitled to declare the vote valid and proclaim the only candidate present on the ballot paper as mayor. There are three instead municipalities over 15 thousand inhabitants in which the electoral law provides for a second round: in reality, however, only a Samarate it’s at Malnate a run-off may be held if none of the candidates receives 50% plus one of the votes, Trade in fact there are only two candidates for mayor so the “ballot” will actually take place in the first round.

How to vote

In municipalities under 5000 inhabitants you vote by crossing the symbol of the chosen list and you can only express one preference, in municipalities between 5000 and 15 thousand inhabitants you vote by ticking the symbol of the chosen list and you can express up to two preferences as long as they are of different gender, while in the three municipalities above 15 thousand inhabitants both the name of the chosen mayoral candidate and that of a list must be crossed out (it is possible to vote separatelygranting consent to a mayoral candidate and to a list linked to another mayoral candidate), also expressing up to two preferences in this case, as long as they are of different gender.
