Fonseca? I prefer to play for salvation | “Zorro” claimed the first victim: goodbye Milan

One of Milan’s transfer objectives, in view of next season, seems to have definitively disappeared.

The doubts have definitely disappeared in the last two weeks and after the many names mentioned it now seems certain that Paulo Fonseca will be on the Milan bench. The Portuguese coach will sign a two-year contract, with an option for a third year, worth around 2.5 million euros net per season.

The former Roma coach has just terminated the contract that tied him to French club Lille and he is ready to become Stefano Pioli’s successor on the Rossoneri bench. A few more days, therefore, and Fonseca will be called to open the new cycle at Milan, with the official announcement and presentation which should take place on June 15th.

A choice that is not entirely convincing for the Rossoneri. The environment perhaps needed a mental jolt and enthusiasm after the chiaroscuro season and the last heavy consequences linked to the protest at the Curva Sud and Pioli’s farewell, but especially after the six consecutive derbies lost and the last one which delivered the Scudetto and the second star to Interright in the house of Devil.

And it is precisely for these reasons that Milan fans expected a more high-sounding, more convincing name, more in line with the ambitions that a team with the Rossoneri coat of arms should have. Conte, De Zerbi, Thiago Motta: these were the names that the AC Milan fans were expecting who instead will have to settle for Fonseca.

Milan transfer market, the priority remains a striker

The Portuguese coach is a good coach, with brilliant ideas and knows how to enhance the offensive phase of his team, the young people and the attacking players. On the contrary, however, he has never convinced when it comes to the defensive phase, his squads tend to suffer from too many injuries during a season, but above all he never had that drive and that strong character that would now be useful at Milan.

But that’s it. Fonseca will be the new coach of Devil and now the fans hope that the club will at least make an excellent transfer to strengthen the team and fill the gap with its cousins Inter from the point of view of the quality and competitiveness of the squad. The number one target has been a new striker for some time who will replace the departing Giroud.

Duvan Zapata, Torino striker, seems destined to remain in the Granata/ANSA-Dotsport.it

Attack, Milan strong on Zirkzee. No to Zapata

In the last hours Joshua Zirkzee has been talked about insistently and the fact that Milan has communicated to Bologna that it wants to pay the release clause of 40 million euros present in the Dutch striker’s contract. The player wants the Rossoneri and now all that remains to be resolved is the issue relating to the commissions requested by the attacker’s agent.

In the past Duvan Zapata’s name had also been mentioned for Milan’s attack. The Colombian, however, according to his agent, Fernando Schena, has no intention of leaving Torino and should remain in the squad. Furthermore, the Turin club has already rejected a 15 million euro offer from Cruz Azul who continue to push to buy the former Atalanta striker.
