FANO La goldfish technique. A fake coin, connected to a metal cable that was inserted into the slot machines and reeled in as if it were the line of a fishing rod. A mechanism that allowed you to play endlessly. This is the reason for the name “little fish”. Yesterday the sentence for the three Romanians who were arrested at the end of April in Fano. Not without surprises. The police officers of the Fano police station put an end to this scam, in synergy with the local police and thanks to the precious use of the city’s video surveillance system. The suspicious car, an Audi A5, already under the magnifying glass, had been identified while wandering suspiciously between Via Roma and the Statale Adriatica. The three Romanians, aged 43, 53 and 36, were followed by the agents and waited at the exit of an amusement arcade: they had with them 800 euros which they had just ‘won’ in just 20 minutes and the fake currency. The police station’s investigations also revealed the gang’s modus operandi, which used to stay in hotels while the members studied the area and the slot rooms in which to strike. Two of them acted as stakes, while the third cheated the machines. Arrested for aggravated theft, it emerged that the leader of the gang was already known for dozens of thefts of this type carried out throughout the national territory. For him the judge had opted for the precautionary measure of the obligation to reside in Lombardy in April, the other two returned to Romania. Yesterday the latter, the 53-year-old and 36-year-old agreed to a 6-month suspended sentence. For the “boss”, 44 years old, the lawyer Giulia Cometti underlined to the judge that the owner of the slots had been compensated with 1000 euros. The judge pronounced the sentence of no place to proceed due to extinction of the crime due to restorative conduct. The precautionary measure of the obligation to stay has been revoked.
