GIULIANOVA. The port of Giulianova continues its path of tourism enhancement with the installation of five new slides and the return of the “Calistelle” summer event. The food and wine event will also take place this year on the caliscendi, the traditional fishing machines scattered along the south pier, immediately after the Castelli ceramics walk dedicated to the late president of the port authority Marco Verticelli. The first edition of the event was a great success and contributed to making the Giulia port known as a suggestive place full of attractions, as well as promoting the wines and fish-based dishes of local wineries and restaurants.
The “Calistelle” food and wine festival returns from Thursday. The event is for every Thursday evening until September 21st and will see the participation of eighteen Giulia restaurants and numerous Abruzzo wineries. Therefore, every Thursday evening, five of these restaurants will be hosted on the terraces and will offer visitors an ever-changing tasting menu. At the entrance to the south pier, participants will be given the kit with glass holder bag and glass, as well as the three virtual tokens for the wine tastings. On July 18th the south pier will be tinged with pink thanks to the “Cerasuolo a mare” event, promoted by Confesercenti Pescara. «For this summer we will only make one stop in Giulianova and we have chosen the event dedicated to the cherry tree», reports the director of Confesercenti Pescara Gianni Taucci, «regarding “Bianco e azzurro”, the event that promotes white wine and blue fish, if the conditions are right we will propose it again in September; we opted for a single date, to avoid taking away space from Calistelle, given that the event will not take place on the Thursday of August.” Taucci concludes by thanking the Municipality, the “I caliscendi” association and all the event partners. News also for the Caliscendi: the Region has put out to tender the concession of five new buildings which will be built immediately after the end of the re-flowering works on the cliff on the south pier. «The surfaces that will host the new structures will go under concession», underlines the councilor Paolo Giorgini, «for the construction, we must wait for the end of the safety measures on the south pier: a pair of ladders will be positioned immediately after the walk dedicated to Verticelli, while the other three near the lighthouse». In July, the preliminary investigation for the release of concessions will take place in the case of a single application received from private individuals, or a competition in the case of multiple applications, as reported in the notices of the Region’s state property office.(sg)
