Doctors Ascot. The mayors protest and the local health authority reassures: “They will soon receive all the sums due”

The mayors of Monti, Padru and Oschiri, in a joint post published yesterday 6 June, they declared that they would be ready to involve the Public Prosecutor’s Office “to investigate the reason for serious disservices and identify any responsibilities” regarding the situation of the Ascot doctors.

The three first citizens Emanuele Mutzu, Antonello Idini and Roberto Carta they wrote that they “informally learned that the Ascot doctors have resigned because they are not paid by the Olbia ASL. It seems that they go to work at the ASL of Sassari because the latter pays instead. It seems that the ASL of Olbia has the funds but would not pay the doctors who carry out activities in our municipalities. Listen to the ASL of Olbia and it would seem that it is instead the Region that has not provided sufficient funds to guarantee the Ascot service. Ask for information and, if you are lucky enough that someone answers you, no one knows anything specific.”

For its part, the Olbia Local Health Authority, this morning (7 June 2024), sent a note informing that “the Corporate Management of the Gallura Local Health Authority reassures the doctors involved in the Ascot projects that all outstanding payments due as part of the additional services carried out in various Gallura municipalities will be paid shortly. The bureaucratic problems that had caused the procedures to be blocked have been overcome.”

“As regards general practitioners – we read in the ASL document – in our territory there are 51 positions uncovered out of 138. The aim of the Ascot, therefore, is not to leave citizens without basic assistance, through a project which provides for the payment of additional services for participating doctors. There has never been a desire on the part of this company not to pay what was due. We therefore reassure the doctors, to whom we recognize the importance of the work they have done and will do for the communities, by informing them that they will soon receive all the sums due. In the future, payments will be made on time,”
