The Blues, the hybrid train of the Trenitalia Regionale (lead company of the Passenger Hub of the FS Group) with dual composition, has entered service in Tuscany. It is the first to circulate in Italy in the new version and will allow the offer to be doubled (especially in the hours of maximum demand) with a capacity of 600 seated travelers and space for the transport of 16 bicycles. An unprecedented method that will begin the replacement of some of the oldest trains in the Tuscany fleet, also bringing important environmental benefits.
A step forward towards reducing CO2, thanks to the triple power supply (electric, diesel and battery) which allows the train to travel via diesel engine on non-electrified lines and with batteries to enter inhabited centres. A train with important performances with new generation hybrid technology.
The Blues was specifically designed to meet the needs of travellers, with a strong sustainable footprint that is evident from the train’s many features. The materials chosen are highly recyclable (95%) without forgetting the large glass surfaces with longer windows. Equipped with a modern air conditioning system with optimization of consumption based on the actual number of passengers transported.
Trenitalia’s dual composition hybrid train will enter service next week on the Florence-Empoli-Siena line, making four connections per day:
- R18208 Siena 6.36 – Florence SMN 8.32
- R18223 Florence SMN 5.10pm – Siena 6.41pm
- R19130 Siena 7.41pm – Empoli 8.54pm
- R19057 Empoli 9.08pm – Siena 10.16pm
