Capello: «Conte is the right man for Napoli, but coexistence with De Laurentiis will be difficult»
Fabio Capello, present at the Serie A Festival, made some statements to the media (including Tuttomercatoweb) commenting on the coaching market and Spalletti’s Italy.
Italian coaches dominate in Europe.
«It’s a very good moment for Italian football, especially these last two years. We are competing with the Spaniards, who win the championships, in England and Germany, fortunately there is Carletto (Ancelotti, ed.) who keeps the honor high in Spain».
What do you think of all these changes on the bench?
«We will see something different, we will see the skills of these emerging coaches. The names of those who won, however, don’t seem very young to me, those who have more experience have shown that they have all the strength to teach football».
Capello: «Conte will give competitive spirit and desire to win to everyone»
Who will have the most difficult challenge between Conte and Thiago Motta?
«Both because Motta has to make Juventus a winner again, there’s nothing to be done, participation doesn’t exist there. So at Milan and Real Madrid, when you win it’s something normal, you haven’t achieved a feat. Conte must wake up the players who had become comfortable and it is more interesting. The difficulty will depend on the team they manage to put together, but Conte will give that competitive spirit, that desire to win and be protagonists to everyone. I believe that Conte is the right man to bring Napoli back to the role that he had shown he could play. Coexistence with De Laurentiis will be difficult however, this is the most important issue».
Is Spalletti Italy’s top player?
«He has a difficult commitment. He did a great thing after Mancini left the national team, he took us to the European Championship, we will defend the title, but he had little time to teach and to impart his ideas. It will all be very difficult, but he is the right man to bring Italy back to where he is missing at world level because two championships without the Azzurri is a very serious thing».
How do you see Milan with Fonseca?
«Now we can’t make predictions, Napoli have signed Conte, but we need to see what players they will have at their disposal. You can also be the best in the world, but if you don’t have players… I’ll take the example of the Champions League final: if Real had the three chances that Dortmund had, do you think the score would remain 0-0? We await the signing campaign of the various teams».
What do you think of Italian at Bologna and Palladino at Fiorentina?
«We need to see who buys Bologna, who sells… Let’s wait. These are bets: Palladino did well for two years at Monza, Italiano made two European finals. They seem like thoughtful choices to me, but let’s wait».
