On Friday 7 June morning, the personnel of the State Police of Perugia, assisted by the personnel of the Flying Squad of Caserta, at the conclusion of a vast and complex investigative activity, executed – in Parete and Villa Literno (CE) – an order of precautionary custody in prison issued by the GIP of the Court of Perugia against 5 Romanian citizens and a Pakistani citizen – aged 39, 37, 36, 35, 32 and 30 years old respectively – considered seriously suspected of the crimes of aggravated theft in conspiracy and attempted theft in competition.
The investigations, carried out by the Flying Squad of the Perugia Police Headquarters, began in June last year, when four of the suspects, after having forced the entrance gate of a farm in Perugia, entered inside and removed several home appliances. Subsequently, after going outside, the four subjects forced a tank and the inspection wells of the photovoltaic panels, taking possession of 420 liters of diesel and removing the electrical cable of the system, approximately 900 meters long, for an estimated value of approximately 100,000 EUR.
The viewing of the video surveillance footage with which the company was equipped and the further investigations carried out immediately after the events allowed the Perugia Flying Squad personnel to trace the identity of the three Romanian citizens and the Pakistani citizen believed to be involved in the events.
Following the detailed investigative activity carried out by the Flying Squad personnel – also through listening to numerous telephone interceptions and the analysis of the positioning of the GPS systems of the mobile phones – evidence emerged that led to the belief that the four, together with two other Romanian citizens, were involved – as material perpetrators – in other similar criminal episodes, committed against other agricultural companies and the primary sector, located in :
– Municipality of Bertinoro – Forlì Cesena (episode which occurred on the night between 17 and 18 August 2023);
– Viterbo (episode which occurred on the night between 23 and 24 August 2023);
– Rimini (episode which occurred on the night between 4 and 5 June 2023);
– Monbaroccio (PU) (episode which occurred on the night between 11 and 14 August 2023);
– Cesena (episode which occurred on the night between 23 and 24 August 2023);
– Valmontone (RM) (episode which occurred on 31 August 2023 in the form of an attempt).
Specifically, the suspects, alternating from time to time in the commission of the crimes and, in some cases, in competition with subjects who remained unknown, at night – almost always using burglary tools – entered the companies, removing, depending on the case, diesel for over 1500 litres, electrical cables for a total length of over 9 kilometres, 3 vans and various work equipment.
The total value of the stolen goods would amount to over 265,000 euros.
On the basis of the elements acquired from the investigations conducted by the Flying Squad, the suspects were fully identified.
Having assessed the criminal record and the concrete danger of repeating the crime, this Office requested the application of the precautionary measure of custody in prison.
The investigating judge of the Court of Perugia ordered the application of the requested measure against the six suspects.
Having acquired the GIP’s provision, the personnel of the Flying Squad of Perugia, assisted by the personnel of the Flying Squad of Caserta, activated searches aimed at tracing him; of these, one is already detained for another reason at the Santa Maria Capua Vetere prison, 4 – residents in Campania – have been traced and associated at the aforementioned penitentiary facility and one is currently untraceable on the national territory for which searches will be activated also internationally.
