Mayor Franz Caruso welcomed the members of the Board of Directors of BCC Leasing to Palazzo dei Bruzi, with the President Paolo Raffini and the Deputy Vice President Nicola Paldino, President of BCC Mediocrati
The group of directors and top management was in Cosenza for a meeting of the Board of Directors held at the headquarters of BCC Mediocrati. In welcoming the guests, Mayor Franz Caruso, together with the President of the Culture Commission Mimmo Frammartino, reminded them of the most significant cultural excellences in which the city is rich.
Franz Caruso first of all made mention of the MAB, the Bilotti open-air museum which was the first impact the BCC leaders had with the city, arriving at Palazzo dei Bruzi after a walk on the pedestrian area. “The MAB – said Franz Caruso – is unique in the whole country and we are proud because, along its route, there are sculptures of absolute value, the work of the masters of the 20th century”. Then the Mayor indulged in a joke that greatly amused the guests when he pleasantly announced that “other works of equal prestige and value will be placed on the Mab in the future. We hope to do so – remarked Franz Caruso – also with the help of some banking institutions”. Immediately afterwards he pointed out to those present “the true family jewel, the wonderful historic centre” and spoke of it as a city within the city which, however, has “its own peculiarity which, unfortunately, over time, after the depopulation which occurred after the war , brought it to the outskirts of Cosenza. Although the city has expanded towards the North – continued Franz Caruso – the ancient part maintains its charm and its values which are of a historical nature intact”.
And he also remembered the Cathedral with its 800 years of history, the Rendano Theater “which is our traditional theater and near which the Cosenza Academy is based, the second oldest in Europe. Cosenza – added the mayor – is proud of its cultural references, such as Bernardino Telesio and Tommaso Campanella, figures who have given our city the possibility of boasting the title of Athens of Calabria”. A reference to the almost total recovery and restoration interventions that are affecting the ancient part of the city could not be missing. “We are investing with funding from Agenda Urbana and CIS for over 130 million euros. We have completed 11 interventions with Agenda Urbana and we have opened 13 construction sites with CIS”.
A reference also to the versatility of Cosenza which is “supportive and open to everyone’s contribution. The only thing that the people of Cosenza do not lack is solidarity and hospitality. We like it when people come from outside and appreciate our particularities, certainly the beauties of the city, but above all when they come to experience the human warmth that distinguishes the South in general and the Cosenza area in particular”. A brief thank you also from the President of the Culture Commission Mimmo Frammartino who recognized the generosity and attention of the BCC to the problems of our territory and to cultural aspects.
And a special thanks to Mayor Franz Caruso was paid by the President of BCC Mediocrati, Nicola Paldino “for the enthusiasm with which he welcomed us and we reciprocate this sensitivity with equal closeness to the Municipality of Cosenza”. At the end of the meeting, Mayor Franz Caruso gave all the guests a copy of the guide to the historic center of the city, a beautiful photo book on ancient Cosenza which becomes the absolute protagonist and of which the authors are Claudio Dionesalvi and Francesco Bozzo, with his excellent photographic shots.
