«The Resistance? An invention, as well as the existence of partisan women. While the “green” objectives of the 2030 agenda are tools of manipulation and control.” The contents released on Wednesday 5 May by an Italian teacher of a fifth grade at the Moro scientific high school in Reggio Emilia are decidedly anomalous contents for a high school lesson. The teacher, during her time, distributed it to the students two sheets of “educational material”the first focused on the Resistance and the second on the 2030 global agenda, and argued what was written in black and white.

Historical denialism

It wouldn’t be the first time that the professor, now very close to retirement, indulges in at least original positions on historical and political issues, this time she has pushed her hand even further, creating these two summaries. However, the printouts were noticed by a colleague, history teacher in the same class, and reported by the same students. The matter quickly reached the desk of the school director, who initiated an in-depth investigation into the matter. Then, on the morning of Thursday 6 June, numerous teachers from the Moro high school publicly distanced themselves from the flyers, defined as “historical denialism”. The affair, born in one of the most well-known and popular schools in Reggio Emilia, quickly left the confines of the classrooms, generating several discussions in a city that is preparing to vote and in which anti-fascism remains a cornerstone of the debate.

«A creation of the Allies»

And on the other hand, the teacher spared nothing. In the sheet on the Second World War, alongside a famous photo of partisan women, the image, created in a sort of pose, is analyzed to explain how the Resistance was fundamentally a creation of the Allies, and financed by them, during the period of the war against fascism and Nazism. Difficult to digest in Reggio gold medal for the Resistancethe land of the Cervi brothers, of Commander Diavolo and of the massacre of 7 July 1960.

“Poors? They serve to create dependence on social services”

From the past, perhaps on equal terms, the teacher then focused on current events, in particular on the environmental and social objectives that guide Agenda 2023, the international program for sustainable development. A complex path and not without stumbles, far from it, which however is translated here as an instrument of global control with dystopian aromas. The elimination of extreme poverty on a global scale is branded as a step towards achieving widespread dependence on social assistance, while attempts to expand minimum levels of education would be a way to pursue mass indoctrination. A cauldron perhaps not unprecedented, but mixed with that on the Resistance, it quite astonished the fifth grade students of Moro high school and even more so the other teachers who then found themselves faced with the material. And they wanted to move away clearly.

Back and forth between CGIL and the minister

There are also many political consequences arising from the flyer. Starting from a clash between the CGIL of Reggio Emilia and the Minister of Education Giuseppe Valditara. The union intervened, condemning the teacher’s actions and calling for direct intervention from the school authorities: «To save this school, so as not to disperse the indignation of these students, we hope and ask that the school management and the Education Board take a clear position and assume the consequents measures towards those who should preside over the intellectual development of children and instead have abused their educational role in favor of disvalues ​​contrary to the principles enshrined in our anti-fascist Constitution. Public schools must promote the development of a critical spirit, within a horizon of values ​​that can only be democratic.” Words to which he responded directly Minister Valditara on his own is the blunt reply.
