CIVITANOVA MARCHE – Road accidents involving drivers of two-wheeled vehicles, bicycles and motorcycles are on the increase. The Adriatic state road is the most dangerous road in the city. It is the commander of the municipal police of Civitanova Marche, Dr. Daniela Cammertoni, who releases the numbers relating to the first five months of the year.
Ten accidents have been detected so far in via Martiri di Belfiore, the southern stretch of the SS 16, 6 in via Colombo, the northern stretch of the Adriatic state road, near Fontespina. Four in via Aldo Moro, 4 in via Carducci, still along the Ss 16, 5 in via Silvio Pellico, along the road 485, in the Santa Maria Apparente district, 6 in via Dante Alighieri, road 485 in the San Marone district, 3 in via Indipendenza and 2 on the Piermanni seafront.
«It should be considered that on average, every year, around 200 accidents are detected by the local police – explained Commander Daniela Cammertoni – As of 1 June 2024, 92 accidents have already occurred. A significant increase compared to the first 5 months of 2023, when 83 accidents were detected, of which 14 related to vulnerable users, motorcycles, mopeds, cycles and scooters. There is an increase in accidents involving drivers of two-wheeled vehicles, bicycles and scooters: 27 in the first five months of 2024 compared to 14 in the same period in 2023. It is necessary to pay more attention, especially at intersections, as the lack of Right of way is the major cause of road accidents. Finally, applause goes to the agents and officials who, with commitment and professionalism, ensure the road accident service every day for the benefit of all road users, starting from the weakest.”
