Rebirth of Nicolosi, work assigned for the redevelopment of the external areas

Another step forward for the redevelopment of the Nicolosi district, a neighborhood that should be the flagship of the city and which over the years has fallen into absolute decay. Ater, which has numerous accommodations, is doing its part with a recovery and redevelopment project which has reached the third of four lots. The works for the third lot have in fact been assigned and on Wednesday the contract was signed with the company Euphorbia srl ​​of Naples. The part of the works assigned, for an amount of almost two million euros, is that relating to the redevelopment of the areas outside the Ater buildings overlooking via Grassi and via Emanuele Filiberto. This is part of the broader urban regeneration project which falls within the scope of the national program for the quality of living (Pinqua) and which Ater is activating on behalf of the Municipality of Latina, in the historic district of the city. The overall intervention involves an investment of 12 and a half million euros and has the objective of redefining the road axis of the neighborhood’s market area, creating a library, green areas and parking areas.

«This is the third assignment of the works, the first two lots had already been assigned – explains Enrico Dellapietà, the president of the Ater of Latina – in the next few days we will proceed with the definition of the fourth intervention, in this way we will be able to translate the neighborhood intervention project. The Nicolosi is the heart of Latina’s identity, which is why the intervention is extremely interesting and important, an intervention that we are carrying out in concert with the Municipality of which we, at this stage, are the operational subject. Nicolosi is at the center of a strong relaunch action and we are proud to have done our part with the technical and professional assets we have at our disposal.” Ater’s task – as the president has underlined several times – is to provide answers to the social need for housing «but also to manage the urban spaces created to create social amalgamation, to change the quality of life of those who live in these spaces. The Nicolosi also has a symbolic function, it is the first public housing project in the city, it is the profound and popular soul of our Latina.” Della Pietà is sure that once the intervention is completed the way of experiencing the neighborhood will change: «New roads, a library, a gym, new spaces for the market, video surveillance are the cornerstones of our intervention». The other interventions concern the redevelopment of the external area of ​​the school, the renovation of the gym and the creation of multipurpose rooms, while as regards accommodation we are talking about the redevelopment of 70 apartments owned by Ater.
