A tragic accident marked the beginning of summer for a group of young people in Catania. Yesterday morning, a sixteen-year-old, intent on celebrating the end of the school year with a trip to the seafront, fell from a height of approximately five metres, suffering serious injuries after having violently impacted the rocks near the Bellatrix beach, located on the border between Catania and Aci Castello.
It is not yet clear whether the boy was attempting to dive or whether the fall was accidental. He was accompanied by his peers, who immediately raised the alarm, prompting emergency services to intervene promptly.
The Catania firefighters arrived on site and worked to ensure initial treatment and safe transport of the injured man.
The young man was urgently transported to the Cannizzaro hospital, where he is currently hospitalized in serious conditions in the Trauma Center.
The accident shook the local community, renewing attention on safety in places where young people gather, especially near potentially dangerous areas such as sea rocks.
