It will go on stage tomorrow, Friday 7 June 2024 from 7.30 pm in the garden of Navarria Crifò Library (via Naumachia 18/a, Catania), the conference-show “For every possible Macondo” edited by Alessio Di Modica.

A project born from the partnership that has lasted for years between the independent theater company Area Teatro and the Navarria Crifò Library. The project plans to create shared moments dedicated to memory. The first appointment will be, as mentioned, tomorrow, Friday 7 June, with a conference-show in which the cuntist Alessio Di Modica will talk about how he collected the stories of the territories to give life to the oral heritage that he managed to safeguard in these years. The other two meetings in June will be moments of collective listening to people who have marked contemporary history in different ways and in different contexts but who are not talked about enough, and it is important to make a collective memory and imagination of their work.

The June 13th, at 5.30 pm again in the Navarria Crifò Library, it will be the lawyer’s turn Adriana Laudaniformer regional parliamentarian and civil party lawyer in several mafia trials, who will talk about women’s rights, his work alongside Pio La Torre, outlining a picture of the current situation.

The June 27same time and same place, we will meet Armando Rossittoretired school director and former councilor for legality of the municipality of Lentini, a forerunner of the memory work on the anti-mafia within the world of school, who with his commitment has left and leaves his mark on the conscience and awareness of those who meet.

Alessio Di Modica, actor, clown, story teller or rather, as he likes to define himself, Cuntautore, was born and raised in Augusta, in the province of Syracuse, in the middle of the largest petrochemical center in Europe. At a certain point, after years of working in the area, he understands the importance and joy of living here and decides to give life to a significant and rooted artistic path. Meeting and studying with masters such as Pippo Delbono, Mimmo Cuticchio, Dario Fo, Eugenio Barba, Peter Schumann, Jango Edwards allows him to develop a personal and original style both in staging and in terms of theatrical pedagogy. He experiments and researches a language that comes from the contamination of different theatrical techniques. His theatrical work unfolds between the creation of both individual shows but also important collaborations, works in schools on the themes of Legality, Civil Rights, Memory, training projects for the Youth Program of the European Community and International Cooperation programs for children from all over the world, workshops in family homes and day centres, workshops and conferences aimed at spreading knowledge of the popular theater of the “Cunto”, of the Clown and Puppets. Alessio spends part of his time on the street among the elderly listening to their stories and recovering the memories buried by official history, to give light to the oral literature that today seems lost but for which there is still hope. Since 2011 Alessio has been part of the international network of storytellers.

Free entry with voluntary contribution. The activities of the Navarria Crifò Library are supported by the Otto per thousand of the Waldensian Church.
