TERAMO. On Saturday 15 June, from 6.30 pm to 9.00 pm at the Exhibition Hall in Via Nicola Palma 16 in Teramo, the photographic exhibition “Under a good star and other natural stories” will be inaugurated, Francesco’s first solo exhibition Mussida. Antonio will be present at the inauguration Filipponi, Councilor for Culture of the Municipality of Teramo; Adrian De Ascentiis, Director of the Atri Calanques Nature Reserve; Vincent OlivieriPresident of the Cetacean Studies Center.
The exhibition presents 30 silver salt prints from the project “Under a good star” which tells of the emergence of the small Caretta Caretta turtles on the beach of Roseto degli Abruzzi, an experience lived together with the group of volunteers Guide Del Borsacchio and the Cetacean Study Center in September 2023; over 22 prints from the Native, InDifesa, Folium and Japanese Dream series that tell the story of the way in which endemic plants express their language through shapes, movements and propagations.
All the shots presented in this exhibition were taken with vintage cameras and the silver salt prints were made in the darkroom with traditional, entirely manual processes. The silver salt prints, as tangible objects capable of testifying to the encounter between light and matter, find a symbolic correspondence with fossils and plant impressions brought on display by Alessandro Paternal of the Ophis Paleontological Museum of Teramo.
Francesco Mussida will hold a workshop on analogue photography at the Exhibition Room in via Palma 16. Francesco Mussida since 2016 he has been teaching development techniques and analogue printing and curates the blog entirely dedicated to analogue culture, www.stampaanalogica.it. In 2022, the “Native” and “In Difesa” series received four Honorable Mentions in three international photography competitions: Monochrom Awards, Nd Awards, Re-Focus Awards.
