Caserta – A very young student of the “Manzoni” Biomedical Scientific High School is the winner of the second edition of the national prize competition “Cav. Work Claudia Matta” for high schools “Effects of nutritional deficiency on bones in adolescents. Osteoporosis, not just a problem for old people.”

This morning the awards ceremony was live streamed in the hall of the Turin Academy of Medicine. The competition is promoted by the Osteoporosis Foundation, in collaboration with the Turin Anorexia Prevention Association (Pr.A.To.), with the patronage of the Turin Academy of Medicine and the Medicine a Misura di Donna Foundation and the support of the Regional School Offices. The report that the student Silvia Di Riso from class 1Bs prepared on the topic of osteoporosis was highly appreciated by the jury, standing out for its originality and incisiveness.

An important recognition for the “Manzoni” high school and for the entire territory, underlined the school director, underlining that “the victory of a very young girl on such a complex topic is clear proof of the educational value that the Manzoni high school gives to the various activities that, although extracurricular, they contribute to enriching the student’s curriculum, as well as his/her educational profile and promoting excellence, making young Manzonians deserving protagonists of their moment of growth”.

Thanks to Professor Luciano De Luca, teacher of Motor and Sports Sciences, who accompanied the student on her journey, contributing strongly to the achievement of this important goal. The text of the winning report will be available on the website www.prevenzioneanoressia.org
