Foligno, finance company surprises 4 illegal workers in the “superbonus” construction site

Suspension of business activity and fines of 70,000 euros were imposed

Foligno, 4 June 2024 – The economic control action of the Provincial Command of the Guardia di Finanza of Perugia continues in the area of undeclared work, in order to protect correct operators from unfair competition exercised by companies that do not respect the rules.

In this context, in recent days, the soldiers of the Foligno Company have concluded an inspection regarding undeclared work at a construction site located in the city of Quintana, linked to interventions financed with funds from the so-called “Superbonus 110%”. In this context, the contracting company, based outside the Region but actually operating in Umbria, was accused of the presence of four workers without an employment contract, therefore “under the table”, and the so-called “maxisanction” was imposed which provides for penalties monetary amounts from a minimum of 7,800.00 euros to a maximum of 46,800.00 euros.

In consideration of the exceeding of the threshold of 10% of the staff employed by the aforementioned local unit, the Territorial Labor Inspectorate of Perugia ordered the immediate suspension of the entrepreneurial activity and after further specific investigations, contested administrative sanctions regarding safety at work, for an amount equal to euro 27,650.00.

Since the beginning of the current year, the Foligno Company, on the basis of the directives issued by the Provincial Command of Perugia, has carried out multiple inspection activities on companies operating in the Municipalities of the territorial district of competence, finding overall the use of 12 workers completely “off the books” and 5 “irregular”.

In addition to the aforementioned construction site, the operations involved various economic activities, including two restaurants in Foligno and a tailoring workshop in Cannara run by ethnic Chinese citizens. In particular, at the two catering businesses, three employees were detected, intent on carrying out work without an employment contract and two “irregular” workers for whom communications to the competent bodies had not been made; in this context, untraceable cash payments relating to overtime hours worked by two employees for €6,664.00 were also contested. However, an “illegal” worker was identified at the factory.

Further inspection activities, transversal to several economic sectors, including bars, laundries, beauty centers and hairdressers, made it possible to contest violations due to the presence, in total, of four “illegal” workers and three “irregular” workers.

These checks highlight the effectiveness of the Fiamme Gialle’s action to combat the phenomenon of undeclared work which constitutes a plague for the entire economic system, takes away resources from the Treasury and undermines the interests of workers, who are often exploited.
