The one that has just ended was a more than positive May for the Apulian airports. According to data released by Aeroporti di Puglia, in the past month there were 1,025,404 passengers arriving and departing from the airports of Bari and Brindisi, up by +11.3% compared to the same month last year.

Of these, 697,057 passengers were from Bari (+12.5%) and 328,347 were those from Brindisi’s Salento airport (+8.9%). The data referring to the international line is excellent which, overall, between Bari and Brindisi stands at 482,564 passengers, with an increase of +21.4% compared to the same in May 2023. Good performance for the Gino Lisa airport in Foggia which May welcomed 4,841 passengers, up 26.3% compared to May last year.

Overall between Bari, Brindisi and Foggia in the first five months there were 3,601,236 passengers, including arrivals and departures, of which 2,462,742 in Bari (+6.1%), 1,120,564 (+4.1%) on Brindisi and 16,930 (+22.7%) on Foggia.

“The reading of the data for May and the first five months of the year represents an immediate and clear confirmation of the excellent state of health of the Apulian airports”, underlines the president of Aeroporti di Puglia Antonio Maria Vasile. “A result that makes us proud, also obtained thanks to an increasingly strong synergy with the Puglia Region so that, on the basis of targeted strategic planning, the best opportunities to encourage traffic growth are determined. A development of the connection network which has obviously favored international traffic, with the strengthening of destinations in Northern Europe and on those markets which have shown great vitality in recent years, France, Switzerland, Poland above all. The growth in traffic, fundamental for the tourism industry which benefits from better air accessibility from strategic foreign markets for this sector, is also supported by the growing quality of services to passengers and carriers and by greater capacity of the aeronautical infrastructures which are a fundamental element for guarantee the necessary safety and operational conditions required by the carriers”.
