The event was held yesterday evening in the Prefecture in the presence of the prefect Castrese De Rosaof the leaders of the Ravenna Provincial Committee of the Foundation retired prefect Maria Guia Federico, of Pasquale Iacovella, of the honored members of the Foundation and of the local authorities including the public prosecutor Daniele Barberini, of the vice mayor of Ravenna Eugenio Fusignani, of the councilor to Sport Giacomo Costantini as well as the territorial leaders of the Police Force.

De Rosa’s words

In his greeting speech, De Rosa invited everyone to reflect on the constitutional value of sport: «Within the beautiful text of the Constitution, clear and far-sighted, sport was never mentioned. The same goes for the national anthem. With the reform of article 33, the Republic finally recognizes the educational, social and psychophysical well-being value of sporting activity in all its forms.”

For his part Iacovella he recalled «the importance of sport in society, underlining that there is still a lot to do especially for the disabled, who have to face very high costs to carry out an otherwise impossible sporting activity», while Federico underlined «the importance of recognition of the constitutional dignity of sport, recalling its educational value, also to address the social emergency of youth hardship and deviance which the Foundation is dealing with among its priority activities”.

Gama’s intervention

Sara Gama in her speech underlined «the need to increasingly develop grassroots sport in current society, strengthening the facilities and giving more and more space to the various disciplines, starting from schools, thus encouraging collective development in territories where individualism and the frenetic pursuit of “social” in its less noble aspects are increasingly emerging”.

At the end, Iacovella read the message of good wishes received from the national president of the Foundation, while Federico and Iacovella himself finally wanted to send a message of welcome into the family of those honored, with the new honorific title, to the new knights of the Omri Arnaldo Agresta, Massimo Cavallone, Casimiro Franza, Eugenio Fusignani, Gianni Ghirardini, Cesare Giuliani, Stefano Pace, Federico Villa, Federico Mercati, Elena Zannoni, Anthony Manno and Giuseppe Palumbo.
