Here she is Latina who has wanted to enroll in university for 30 years and never graduates. An incredible thing is always where to go to university (center or campus?) but never what studies to follow.

For us, university is a question of real estate, of spaces, our university is not physics but physics, it is not architecture but real estate management.

Everything is fine but once and for all we should decide to attend this university. How many professors from the Pontine University have been elected to the city council? How many chosen as councilors? How many guests were invited to give advice? The university here is not the flesh of the teachers and students but the rubble of the walls. Every “former” space has become a university: former military district, former refugee camp, former granary (slaughterhouse), former Ruspi garage, former Bank of Italy. Everything that once was becomes a place to study, something that is marginal. All right but it would be a good idea to start talking, not about where the university is but which faculty we want to enroll in, what research to do, and then where we will go to work.

We must not be the Gabetti of the University but become its students as a community. And being a university student means building libraries, opening theatres, having excellent sports centres, providing space for children’s free time, having museums, thinking not of nostalgia but of new utopias. We cannot be a city of the twentieth century and a university city, because the latter works for tomorrow, the former dies of the nostalgia of yesterday of former young people.
