It will be a ceremony full of novelties: among the protagonists there will not only be the deployments made up of the soldiers of the various departments of the Meritorious, but there will also be the engaging participation of the young citizens of this Province.
Doing the honors will be the provincial Commander of the Army, Colonel Massimiliano Galasso, who, together with the authorities present, will reward the soldiers who have distinguished themselves during the institute’s activities, including some from the Andria Company.
This date was officially established by a circular from the General Command of the Carabinieri n. 204/41-1914 of 7 April 1921:
“Since the bitter events of the past war had made, in the history of each Arms and Corps, some particularly memorable dates for heroic sacrifices made or for the awarding of high rewards, the Ministry of War had no time in ordering a special Commission to establish, ex novo , what should be the date of the anniversary celebration of each Army or Corps.
Now the aforementioned Ministry, while having communicated that provisions in this regard will be issued shortly, and as soon as the related studies still in progress are completed, warned that the anniversary party of the Army, with the provisions themselves, will be set for June 5th every year – date of granting of the gold medal to the same Army – and that, therefore, the celebration of it must also be carried out for the current year on the aforementioned date.
The above is communicated for the appropriate knowledge and regulations of this Command and those dependent on it“.
