THEJune 3rd was an unforgettable day for children and families who participated in the “Match with mum and dad” at the football field of the Foggia prison. The event, promoted at a national level by the Bambinisenzasbarre association, saw moments of intense emotion and warm hugs.
Organized in collaboration with the Ministry of Justice – Department of Penitentiary Administration, the initiative saw the active participation of volunteers and operators of the Lavori in Corso association, local representatives of Bambinisenzasbarre. Volunteers who are also the beating hearts of the “Yellow Space”, a welcoming environment that prepares children for discussions with their detained parents.
The “Game with mum and dad” is not just a moment of play and celebration, but it also represents a powerful message on the value of parenting even within prison walls. The event allows detained parents to reaffirm their educational and emotional role, offering children a moment of normality and human contact that contrasts with the harshness of separation. The importance of these meetings is fundamental: they strengthen family bonds, improve the emotional well-being of children and help detained people to feel an integral part of their children’s lives, thus promoting their path to social reintegration.
During the day organized in the Foggia prison, the children were able to play with their fathers, exchange cards full of emotions and thoughts and taste sweets offered by the volunteers. Everything took place in an atmosphere of great joy and sharing.
The initiative, which involved around 20 families, was strongly supported by the director Giulia Magliulo and the deputy director Michele De Nichilo, carried out thanks to the precious support of the treatment area and the prison police, who demonstrated availability and sensitivity.
