Theater in mourning, Tozzi has died – Pescara

PESCARA. The actor and director has died Ennio Tozzi, among the founders of the Teatro Immediato of Pescara. He was 63 years old, born in Canada and lived in Montesilvano. He leaves his wife Filomena Tavanothe daughters Eleanor And Lauradad Raphaelthe brother Gianlucathe brothers-in-law Michela, Pierluigi And Alkistis. The funeral will be held today at 3pm in the parish of the Blessed Virgin Mary in via Sele, in Montesilvano.
In his long career he has worked with directors Liliana Cavani, Riccardo Milani, Federico Zampaglione and Moni Ovadia.
In Pescara, Tozzi was co-founder of the Teatro Immediato, which opened in via Gobetti (before moving to San Donato) about 20 years ago, together with Edoardo Oliva, Ezio Budini, Vincenzo Mambella, Valeria Ferri, Francesco Vitelli, Enzo Spirito And Giulia Oliva, the latter two disappeared a few years ago. He not only performed on the stages, but also entered schools in Pescara, including Marconi, to teach theater to generations of young people, even in English.
Among his best-known students, the “storyteller” Marcello Sacerdote. Edoardo Oliva remembers him with great affection: «With him we shared ten intense years of life and theater in our historic headquarters in via Gobetti. We were a family and he was part of that family. Then our paths separated eleven years ago, I last saw him a year ago and on Thursday I found myself talking about him with a friend. He was fine”, nothing suggested the tragedy that occurred suddenly last Saturday. «In recent years», continues Oliva, «the Teatro Immediato has been decimated by deaths and illnesses, despite this it continues its path, now also without Ennio who represented a fundamental part of our human and artistic journey, as an actor, as a director and as a teacher in the many theater courses and workshops he held in schools in Pescara, training generations of young people also in his mother tongue, English. He was a man of difficult character, but of great culture. He had attended the Dams in Bologna and had in-depth theatrical knowledge, his approach to things was always serious, dense, generous.”
The director Federica Vicino she remembers him as «a polite, respectable and very passionate person. We had long chats about theater and I was struck by his great attention to young people, he did everything with commitment and seriousness.”
