Federico Frigato: A great organic project for tourism

ROVIGO – “Tourism and visits to Rovigo cannot be entrusted solely to the large exhibitions organized at Palazzo Roverella, which nevertheless constitute an excellence that no one questions. We need an organic and detailed project such as has never been thought of, let alone proposed, to date.” Federico Frigato, candidate for mayor of the Rovigo Si Ama civic list, explains it.

“The challenge, however – continues Frigato – is precisely this: define a precise, strong, attractive identity, based on our history, our peculiarities and our excellence, which can be summarized in a brand to be conveyed to large tourism operators, both national and international. We lack nothing to do it except the will.”

“Put simply, we need to put together what we already have or can have: the slow tourism, nature, unique landscape scenarios, a territory that will be crossed by the great Vento cycle route, navigation routes increasingly frequented by tourists. In the face of these segments, in which something has been moving lately, there are others that are totally and guiltily unexplored. Let’s think about the fact that Rovigo has a fascinating medieval history, which has left visible evidence, with the Towers and the Castle Park, which has always been ignored today; to the very strong bond of our city with music and theatre, a circumstance that easily lends itself to identifying and proposing dedicated itineraries; to the fact that Rovigo could be connected to the other excellences of the Polesine area, from the Delta, to the National Archaeological Museum, to the Giostra Museum, and much more, with organic proposals. These are all opportunities that other centers exploit, but which, in our country, are practically unexplored to date”.

“But it doesn’t end here – closes Frigato – We must also keep in mind how, once arrived, the tourist is not only looking for culture, or the breathtaking landscape, or the single event, but also a lively, pleasant environment, which is, in fact, tourist-friendly, with shops and clubs open, proposals that can impress and involve them. And we must give precise and satisfactory answers, to avoid, as happens today, seeing groups of bewildered tourists who, upon leaving Roverella, don’t know what to do. We have in mind a great plan that involves the centre, the squares, the traders, the local associations, to ensure that the city is active, that there is a program of events on an annual basis, which guarantees constant coverage, to finally give in Rovigo the image it deserves”.
