Tourism, Santanchè meets sector operators in Florence

The Minister of Tourism Daniela Santanchè met today with the trade associations and operators of Tuscany, the region that will host the first G7 on Tourism, strongly desired by President Meloni, as the Minister recalled during the meeting.

Many topics were covered, from the tourist tax which must become a purpose tax, to the management of flows and how these impact on the territories because “Tourism must not be a nuisance but an opportunity for residents” commented the minister who then he insisted on the theme of overtourism “Too much tourism for me is blasphemy, if anything the problem is managing and governing it as we have started to do since we have been in government. Just think of the reform of short-term rentals which, right now, sees the start of the BDSR experimentation: the CIN is in fact a historic success, Nardella attacks us but when they were in government they didn’t have the courage to do anything. We are also preparing the ground for future challenges, from Milan-Cortina to the Jubilee which will be an opportunity to raise awareness of lesser-known realities, build diversified tourist offers and enhance our wonderful villages where 90% of the food and wine excellences are produced. Tourism is our best business card in the world, which offers job opportunities to both young people and especially women – giving them greater independence and autonomy – which is why we are investing in training and will create higher education schools. And we must learn to be proud of these important achievements of the sector and make sure that no one puts us in a bad light. Starting with those Italians who see the grass as always greener on the other side. For this reason the European vote will be even more important. To change Europe we need to go and vote” concludes the minister.
