An explosion of vital energy and authentic reflection was recorded in Lucca and Pietrasanta on the day of the National Day. A true “homage to Italy” commented the Amateur Sports Association Raffaello Motto of Viareggio who, in fact, with the Gymnaestrada group gave a spectacular mix of gymnastics and theatre. The overall vitality in this year’s celebrations was made possible by weeks of preparation and “contamination” between the different protagonists. A chorality that produced an exciting puzzle in which the present embraced past and future, sea and valleys, institutions and citizens.
The interventions of Lucia Amadei on the figure of father Leonetto, among the Constituent Fathers, and of Livia Serra of the Liceo Vallisneri on the history of the anthem and the meaning of that “YES” as a convinced adhesion to Italy were mirrored. Together with the banners and banners of the Municipalities and associations of this province, the deployment of the military and civil forces, the laurel wreath placed by the students and the city authorities made the gratitude towards those who fought for the freedom of posterity tangible.
Worthy of note is the initiative of the provincial student council which, in the month of May, conducted a survey among secondary schools which revealed the need of young people to feel more part of the Republic and to develop a new common “language” with the adults.
Like, for example, the one proposed in the pilot project “1 Ciack – 2 Punti di vista”, which is leading the students of the Isi Pertini, the Isi of Barga and the Lucca historical center comprehensive institute to reflect on feminicide through a reversal of “male/female” roles and an audiovisual modality closer to them.
The highly inclusive connotation of the event was expressed in the video greeting the citizens of the province of Lucca by the Mayors, Councils and City Councils.

The moment in which the children of the Comprehensive Institutes of Pietrasanta 1 and 2 handed over the 12 meter tricolor flag to the firefighters was touching: with their smiles they touched the strings of every heart and nourished that sense of community which – while respecting diversity – is the true fuel of the Constitution, yesterday as today.
The prefect Giusi Scaduto underlined that “in the celebrations of June 2nd, solemnity and civil passion have gradually become an inseparable whole, continuously allowing glimpses of different points of view, roles and talents but always in full sharing of that framework outlined by the Founding Fathers which demands free and responsible citizens. For this intensity I am grateful to the students and all those who gave their convinced contribution and who participated in the organization. Among these the Mayors of Lucca and Pietrasanta, Mario Pardini and Alberto Giovanetti, the President of the Province, Luca Menesini, the provincial Commander of the Carabinieri, Arturo Sessa who oversaw the military part of the Ceremony, the school directors. Special thanks to Pietro Zucchelli, Tommaso Torlai, Andrea Calistri, Lara Castigliola, Paola Gatto, Chiara Vernazza and Matilde Rolle of the provincial student council whose vibrant civic conscience makes the continuity of the Republic brighter”.
