Montesilvano, “riviera reopened, after the closure postponed compared to the ordinance”

Bad surprise on the morning of Monday 3 June for the residents of Montesilvano who found the coast closed despite the ordinance, to allow triathlon and aquathlon competitions, providing for the end of the bans on Sunday 2 June. An affair that has sparked a new controversy in particular on the part of the Villa Canonico-Villa Verrocchio committee.

Reached by IlPescara, the local police commander Nicolino Casale lets it be known that the coast has recently reopened. «We apologize for the inconvenience this morning. Evidently there was a misunderstanding. Now the road has been cleared and you can pass safely.”

The ordinance provided for the closure of via Aldo Moro (in the stretch of via Isonzo-via Marinelli) from 8am on 31 May to 8pm on 2 June with traffic also banned in other points, so as to allow the sporting event to take place. So the surprise on the morning of June 3rd with many citizens who also raised controversy on social media.

For Mauro Di Cola, pro tempore president of the Villa Verrocchio-Villa Canonico committee, «institutional communication has literally failed. Nobody let the citizens know that the Riviera would be closed on Monday morning too! Di Cola insists: «there was a problem with the ordinance, the organizers had asked for 8pm until this evening, so apparently the local police made a mistake in writing it by not inserting Monday by mistake, at least according to from what I have been told.”

In short, a misunderstanding that created inconveniences with the road now being passable again.
