Nothing to do for a willing Granamica. In the return match of the first round of the national play-off phases of Eccellenza, the hosts Zenith Prato only needed a 2-2 draw to advance to the finals. Mister Marchini’s boys had a willing match, but they were unable to immediately capitalize on the first opportunities created and then found their way to Prato’s goals. The Bolognese team starts off strong to recover the disadvantage they suffered after the first leg match. In the 5th minute Karapici immediately tries with a shot from outside, but Brunelli is attentive and flies to deflect the shot. In the 10th minute Chiaramonti ate away the possible local advantage, following a nice cross from Rosi, kicking badly wide from an excellent position. Then Granamica scares Zenith: first in the 14th minute, with an enveloping action that leads to a close-range shot from Frignani which is blocked by the home goalkeeper. Then on the development of a corner kick where it is once again the Zenith goalkeeper who sacrifices himself on the way out on Catozzo. Meanwhile, among the locals, Ciravegna leaves due to injury, replaced by Falteri, the great star of the match.
The number 9′ himself, who had just come on, slipped between two defenders in the 20th minute and gave the bluamaranto the lead with a shot that left Farinella no chance. Granamica’s response was not long in coming and it was Ganzaroli who, with a personal action, beat his marker and struck Brunelli at his post, re-establishing parity. At the beginning of the second half it was Falteri again who took advantage of a nice cross from Chiaramonti and scored the 2-1 which cut Granamica’s legs. Zenith then missed a series of chances to score again with their unbalanced opponents chasing an equaliser. Only at the end does Catozzo’s outburst arrive for the final 2-2 which does not alleviate Granamica’s disappointment.
