Republic Day, Julia memorabilia rooms open, 2 June 2024

On the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the establishment of the “Julia” Alpine Brigade it will be possible to visit the Memorabilia Rooms present at the “Di Prampero” barracks, in via Sant’Agostino 8 in Udine, headquarters of the Brigade.

The rooms have been open on the first Sundays of each month starting last March, and will remain open until Sunday 1 December 2024, always on the morning of the first Sunday of each month.

Access to the Barracks for Sunday 2 June 2024 is possible from the honor entrance in via Sant’Agostino 8, from 9.00 am to 1.00 pm with guided tours made up of groups of maximum 20 people each, departing every 30 minutes. In addition to the historical itinerary which describes the history and events of the Alpine troops from their birth to the present day, the thematic exhibition “The Kirov Pits” will also be set up for the occasion, consisting of objects from the excavation of mass graves of the Second World War on the Russian front.

This is an exhibition of personal objects, photos and information on Italian and foreign soldiers, missing in Russia, found after 70 years in the mass graves of Kirov, during excavation and recovery operations, organized by the volunteers of the Italian Recovery Team, in the summers of 2017 and 2018.
