Lamezia, celebrated the 78th anniversary of Republic Day: laurel wreaths at the monuments of the fallen in the city

Lamezia Terme – The celebratory ceremony for Republic Day, now in its 78th anniversary, took place in the three centers of Lamezia on 2 June, with the traditional laying of flowers and laurel wreaths at the war memorials . After the first part of the ceremony, at the Municipal Delegation of S. Eufemia Lamezia, and immediately afterwards at the War Memorial in Corso Numistrano, at 11 am the administration participated in the Eucharistic celebration of Corpus Domini at the Mother Church, presided over by the bishop Monsignor Serafino Parisi. Subsequently, the civil, military and religious authorities present reached the War Memorial in Piazza 5 Dicembre in procession for the laying of the laurel wreath.

The speech by the President of the Nicotera City Council begins by thanking the Police Forces, present with their representatives, the Associations and the Red Cross, and then continues with a praise of the Constitutional Charter, drawn up by the Founding Fathers, particularly Calamandrei, “in where the word “compromise” took on a positive meaning of synergy between political forces, unlike what happens today. The Constitution is not dead paper, but the fruit of the blood and resistance of many, a secular Bible of the State”. He instead takes the opportunity to refer to the Honorable Furgiuele in the upcoming elections, claiming “Italian sovereignty over Italy”, as opposed to the European one. After joining in thanking the police forces, Mayor Mascaro focuses his speech on the first article of the Constitution. “We are working so that work is a guaranteed right for everyone, and so that it is protected, and the tragic events of deaths at work become a distant memory. We must also work to ensure that fractures, gaps, differences and social steps are not created, so that all our children have the opportunity to realize their aspirations and dreams.”
