Of the twenty new Officers and Knights of the Republic awarded yesterday at the Curci Theater in Barletta, in the event organized by the Prefecture on the occasion of Republic Day, six are from Trani.
Of these one, Francesco Dell’OrcoFirst Marshal of the Navy of the Harbor Masters Corps, was appointed Officer of Merit of the Italian Republic.
The remaining five were all proclaimed Knights: Emanuele di Mangoofficial of the Monopoli Customs Agency; Sabino Falcodoctor; Domenico Miccoli, Senior Commissioner of the local police; brothers Francesco and Roberto Monterisibusiness entrepreneurs (Pizzolante).
The Order of Merit of the Italian Republic is the first among the national ones and rewards merits acquired towards the nation in the fields of letters, arts, economics and disengagement from public offices and activities carried out for social, philanthropic and humanitarian purposes, as well as for long and reported services in civilian and military careers. The honors are granted by the President of the Republic upon proposal of the President of the Council of Ministers.
The diplomas were awarded to the newly awarded Trani citizens by the Prefect, Silvana D’Agostino, and the mayor, Amedeo Bottaro. The reasons shortly.
