The trial in Benevento which attempts to shed light on the murder of Giuseppe Matarazzoa pastor killed by two hitmen a few months after serving a sentence of 11 years and 6 months in prison for the crime of sexual violence against a minor: according to the prosecution, the girl’s father was the instigator of that execution.

The public prosecutor Stefania Bianco, therefore, points the finger at the 64-year-old Lucio Iorillo, former worker of the Taburno Mountain Community and father of the 15-year-old girl who took her own life on 6 January 2008 precisely because of the abuse she suffered. With this hypothesis of crime, the man, whose interests are protected by the lawyers Renato Jappelli and Raimondo Salvo, will have to appear in court on September 27th: the preliminary hearing judge Lortedana Camerlengo will evaluate the possible indictment.

Giuseppe Matarrazzo was shot dead with two gunshots in front of his home on 19 July 2018, about a month after being released from prison where he had served a sentence for aggravated sexual assault against a teenager who had then committed suicide: the only witness to witness the crime was the victim’s mother, who was only able to provide a vague description of the car from which the shots were fired, resulting in her son’s death.

With the hypothesis of a crime put forward by the public prosecutor Bianco, the case of the murder of the 45-year-old pastor on which the Court of Cassation had also recently ruled was essentially reopened, canceling the judgment with which on 14 March 2023 the Court of Appeal of Naples decided to acquit the 59-year-old from Sant’Agata dei Goti Giuseppe Massaro and the 34-year-old from San Felice a Cancello Generoso Nasta of the accusation of being Matarrazzo’s killers.

A verdict, that of last March, which had completely overturned the first degree sentence of the Benevento Assize Court, which, on 6 October 2021, had instead sentenced tolife sentence the two defendants.

Specifically, Massaro is held responsible for having supplied the gun, a legally owned Magnum 357, and the car used in the murder of the shepherd: according to the prosecution, Nasta was behind the wheel of the car. To the scenario reconstructed by the prosecutor, a figure of extreme importance is added, that of the alleged instigator of the two killers, identified in Iorillo: the latter would have reached a economic agreement with the other two defendants, proposing the payment of a compensation of 20 thousand euros, an amount apparently only paid in part.

Not only.

According to the prosecution, the father of the 15-year-old abused by Matarrazzo would have acted to build a solid alibi, meeting numerous people on the evening of thehomocide to remove any possible suspicion against him.
