56-year-old cyclist hit and killed by a car – Teramo

GIULIANOVA. A 56-year-old cyclist died in Giulianova after being hit by a car in the underpass of Via D’Annunzio, not far from the Adriatica state road.

According to an initial reconstruction, the woman was hit by an Audi around 1pm, while she was cycling through the Via d’Annunzio underpass: she fell and hit her head violently on the asphalt. The rescue efforts of the 118 personnel were useless. The exact dynamics of the accident are still to be clarified: the traffic police and the traffic police are on site for the ritual investigations and to manage the traffic. The underpass was closed to traffic.

Monica Tassoni was an employee of the Region and was the wife of a well-known former basketball player from Giulia, Orazio Pedicone. According to an initial reconstruction, the woman who was riding her bicycle along the underpass towards the sea was hit by an Audi Q8 SUV and in the disastrous fall to the ground she hit her head, dying instantly.

“The Abruzzo Region today lost a valuable employee in a tragic road accident in Giulianova. On behalf of myself and the entire regional council, I offer my condolences to Monica Tassoni’s family at this painful moment”, the note from President Marsilio’s press secretary on the death of Monica Tassoni.
