Reggio, the mural to be created in the new square in Via Mercalli has been chosen

From 21 to 27 May the portal of the Municipality of Reggio Calabria I participate hosted the public consultation to choose the mural that will “decorate” the welcoming little square in via Mercalli, recently redeveloped by the municipal administration of Reggio Calabria.

Beyond 12,600 votes were distributed across the three project proposals subject of the survey with respect to the urban regeneration intervention which, started on the proposal of the neighborhood committee Railwaymen – Fishermenis the result of the profitable synergy between the municipality of Reggio Calabria, the school community of the artistic high school Preti-Frangipane and the proposing committee.

With almost 44% approval and 5,553 votes registered, project proposal 02 is the chosen one. This is the work produced by Vincenzo Solare of class 2° D, a work representing eight carriages of a traveling train seen from the inside.

In each one depict the typical settings of the neighborhood Railwaymen-Fishermen. The wagons represent the Industry and the progress of the railway workers who, after the 1908 earthquake, populated the neighborhood. From the windows references to sea and ai fishermen, bergamot gardens of Reggio Calabria, a sports field with the colors and references of Reggina. Among travelers who look at the landscape also gods references to art represented by the Preti-Frangipane artistic high school.

The student’s “project 01” proposal stands at a gap of 307 votes Maria Saccà of the 3rd C class, with the graphics of the classmates Martina Ritondale And Giada Arcudi. At the center of the work, a little girl supported by several books, which follow one another in a sinuous and dynamic way.

In third place, with 1,886 votes, the students’ “project 03” proposal Caccamo Gabriele, Coluso Giuseppe, Ferrara Veronica, Nelo Anna, Marino Marco, Scopelliti Alessandro, Humanists Valentina of the 5th class, inspired by the reproduction of the work “Dynamism of a train” by the Sicilian futurist Vittorio Corona.
