Vicenza eliminates Padova, Benevento continues to run

Predictions partially subverted in the Serie C play-off quarter-finals. Two of the runners-up at the end of the regular season were in fact eliminated while only one qualified for the semi-finals. This is the case ofAvellino who however had a very hard time against the Catania, which had come close to making the play-offs but having won the Italian Cup was admitted to the play-offs. After winning 1-0 in the first leg, the Sicilians led 1-0 at half-time last night but the Irpinia team recovered at the end, winning the match 2-1 and qualifying thanks to their best position in the championship. However, the second place in group B, La., is out of the running Torreseliminated right from that Benevento (in the photo in the Rocco match) which had shattered the dreams of the Union. It ended 0-0 in Sardinia after the 1-0 in the first leg. It also passes Vicenza in the Venetian derby, and the Padua it is the other second-placed team (in group A) that is eliminated: after the 2-0 win against Menti, the Berici repeat their success by conquering Euganeo 1-0 and fully deserving the passage to the next round. Finally great suffering for the Carraresewho drew 2-2 at home with the surprise Juventus Next Gen and after the 1-1 draw in the first match they qualified thanks to the third place achieved in the regular season.

Semifinals starting the day after tomorrow with these pairings: Avellino – Vicenza and Carrarese – Benevento. In the event of an equal number of goals scored in the two matches, extra time and possibly penalties will be played. The best placement is no longer valid.
