This is part of the press release issued by the candidate for Mayor of Aversa Mauro Baldascino: “Schlein’s visit gives us courage to carry forward our project (…). I have launched a pact for a green city, to say a stop to the flows of concrete (…)”. It is a full-throated Mauro Baldascino who welcomes the secretary of the Democratic Party Elly Schlein, during the crowded rally held in Piazza Municipio. “We want – we read in the press release – an attentive city to vulnerable people – continued the centre-left mayoral candidate – more inclusive, fair and supportive. We must fight at a national level so that the money goes to social issues and healthcare, not to weapons the criminal-driven economy, we cannot accept it, we must valorise the enormous resources we have. Aversa must become an educational city, we have all the schools of all levels, let’s not leave them alone. Municipality, schools, parishes, third sector, work together on the development of the territory. But to do all this – said Baldascino, addressing Schein – we must fight – continues the statement – at a national level to ensure that this project of differentiated autonomy absolutely does not pass”. (…)

Schlein’s commitment to the centre-left mayoral candidate was not long in coming. “I would like to return and see our Mauro mayor of Aversa – he began – he deserves it for his history, for his commitment against organized crime, for his commitment in favor of local associations that every day – we read again – seek to build future opportunities for the young people of this land and greater social justice”. Furthermore, the PD secretary’s response to differentiated autonomy was clear. “We carry the same message from South to North: we will stop differentiated autonomy. There is no redemption for Italy if there is no redemption for the South. We will fight against the differentiated autonomy that wants to maintain territorial gaps and increase them. We do not accept this autonomy because it would be the final blow to public health. Behind this technical name lies the denial of access to fundamental services for citizens: school, health, local public transport – continues the statement. These are the same reasons – was Schlein’s final comment – for which we will fight against a constitutional reform that aims to centralize all powers in the hands of the head of government”.
