10 before the judge, doctors and lawyers involved

The preliminary hearing has been set for 10 people involved in a major investigation into insurance fraud, including 3 doctors and two lawyers.

The following will have to appear before the preliminary hearing judge of the Naples court for the hearing scheduled for June 20: Umberto Laurenzo, a 67-year-old from Curti on duty in the emergency room of the Marcianise hospital at the time of the events; Rosita Capone, 48 year old emergency room doctor at the San Giovanni Di Dio hospital in Frattamaggiore; Emanuele Minelli, 66 year old doctor on duty in the emergency room of Frattamaggiore hospital; the lawyers Gennaro Castelli, 51 years old from Naples, and Enrico Mastantuono, 45 years old from Minturno. Preliminary hearing also for Giuseppe Infimo, 70 years old from Naples; Camillo Meola, 41 years old from Sant’Antimo; Gianluca Niro, 28 years old from Naples; Giovanni Toscano, 68 years old from Melito; Carmela Buommino, 48 years old from Naples.

According to the prosecution, they were part of an association aimed at defrauding insurance companies with fake accidents at the top of which was an element believed to be close to the Puca clan. The doctors on duty in the hospitals of Frattamaggiore and Marcianise would have issued false certificates certifying injuries from road accidents that never occurred. The lawyers involved, however, not only prepared the documents to obtain compensation but also identified false witnesses for the trials. At least 22 scams have ended up in the sights of investigators.

The defense team includes lawyers Luigi Marrandino, Luca Viggiano, Sabato Graziano, Alfonso Quarto, Claudio Parisi, Alessio Ruoppo, Dario Gagliano, Isidoro Niola, Massimo Montanaro.
