Sassari The exhibition “NaturArt – put out the fire, rekindle hope” is an event organized by the Environment and Public Green Sector in collaboration with the environmental educators of the Ceas Lago Baratz of the Municipality of Sassari and the “Filippo Figari” art high school. The exhibition will be held in the Tavolara Pavilion from 28 May, the opening day, to 9 June and can be visited from 10am to 1pm and from 5pm to 8pm and has free admission.

The exhibition is part of the network project, coordinated by the Fo.Re.STAS Agency, “Climate Change and Fire Risk – Emergency Vs Prevention” launched last year and financed by the Sardinia Region as part of the funds allocated to the Centers of accredited Environmental Education.

The general objective is to develop and increase the awareness of students and local and non-local communities regarding the problems of fires (causes, effects and behaviour) and climate change, in order to make them understand that each of us is called to adopt responsible and virtuous behavior necessary to avoid and avert fire outbreaks that could give rise to uncontrolled events.

The students of the five participating classes (painting, sculpture and graphics) of the ‘F. Figari’ were involved in information and awareness-raising actions, which took place in school spaces, proposed by the operators of Ceas Lago Baratz, by the Forestry and Environmental Supervision Corps (CFVA) and by Civil Protection, and at the Pabarile Forestry Site on Montiferru where the manager and the staff working in the area welcomed the children and showed the devastating effects of the 2021 fire.

The stimuli and emotions arising from the training course inspired the creation of the paintings, sculptures and graphic works created by the students.

The exhibition will also be enriched by a space dedicated to the screening of a video on the disastrous fire of Montiferru produced by expert naturalists and documentary filmmakers and by information materials, available to visitors, designed and created by the operators of Ceas Lago Baratz and by the graphics section of the art high school involved in the project.

The event is the final action of a larger regional project of the Infeas Network, which involved several Ceas of Sardinia, the Fo.Re.STAS Agency and the Forestry and Environmental Surveillance Corps (CFVA), the latter in training activity aimed at educators from the participating Ceas on the regional fire prevention system (structure, organisation, components), definition, characteristics and types of fires, predisposing factors, fire prevention, the impact of fire on the environment.
