They would be responsible for thefts, robberies, attempted extortion and damage near the Barletta station and in the city center, which occurred in recent months. The State Police carried out the order for the application of the precautionary measure against two eighteen-year-olds and a nineteen-year-old, all from Barletta. One episode refers to an attempted aggravated theft against a company operating in the railway sector. But within a few days the same company suffered three successful thefts: the young people under investigation, together with other accomplices still being identified, after having ransacked some rooms in the warehouse at the Barletta railway station, took away a large quantity of equipment and material, causing economic damage quantifiable at around 20 thousand euros. Other episodes, again near the station, involved the damage to some trains and the theft of safety devices on board trains. Furthermore, according to police investigations, the three young people from Barletta arrested would also be responsible for aggravated theft against a citizen of Barletta: despite the presence of passers-by, they would have forced the lock of a garage shutter, broken in and taken away a car and a motorcycle. Last April, however, after having stolen a bicycle from a disabled person, they attempted to extort the sum of 150 euros from him in exchange for the return of the vehicle. They are accused of aggravated theft, robbery, attempted extortion, damage and private violence. Their position is now being examined by the Judicial Authority.
